Why Is Video Important?

On the surface this is a simple question. You like videos and your friends like videos.  But think about it for a minute: why are videos important to your company? Notice we didn’t say one video, but videos.

One: People Like Watching Videos

Ok, so we said that earlier. It’s worth repeating. There’s a reason why YouTube is so popular. It’s the same reason TV is so popular: pictures. Specifically, moving pictures.

The Renaissance folks enjoyed pictures. Matthew Brady found that cameras could be a major factor in documenting the Civil War. During World War II the government tapped the famous Walt Disney Studios to produce animated propaganda pieces.  The landing of the moon was televised. So you see, important moments in history have been captured with images.

The lesson? You have a business. Use the technology your clients use.

Two: That Pesky Bounce Rate

Definition: Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page.” (Google)

A high bounce rate indicates there is a concern with the type of content on your page. Put another way- people coming to your website are not finding what they expect to find.

Video keeps eyeballs on the screen. Your audience’s attention is held captive and it’s more likely they’ll explore the rest of your website once they’ve viewed the video.

Three: Stand out & Increase your Brand Awareness (and even your street cred)

Video sharing online is still in it’s infancy. The good news is video production best practices are already established. When you produce a video you have the opportunity to share it with your current clients as well as your yet untapped audience.

You can use your videos to educate your clients, provide them information on goods and services and let them get to know your team. This is just another way for you to reach your audience.
